Mom said I could choose an AG for my 9th birthday. At the time, there were only 3. I used to think Molly was ugly, so I debated between Kirsten and Samantha. I chose Samantha probably because she has brown hair like me, and I've always loved girly things. Ironically, it was Kirsten's time era that first hooked me on historical fiction from the Little House books and the first AG book I read was one of hers. Mom bought Kirsten for herself 2 months later.

Two years later, I chose Molly for my second doll when Mom let me get one for Hanukkah....but so did my sister. Since I already had an AG, she got first dibs. I got Felicity instead.

When Addy was introduced, Mom bought her for herself, so I don't have her.

Next came the AGTs. I debated for a long time which I wanted. (I used my own money this time) At one point, I had cut out the little squares with all their pictures and tried random selection games. I finally settled on my Hannah Rose- white skin, black hair and brown eyes, because she was so untique looking and the one my mom was suggesting I choose. Sometimes I wish I had picked dark brown hair with green eyes though. I really liked her, and now she is gone. Mom thought she'd look too much like Samantha.

When Josefina came out, it had been 5 years since I got a new historical, so I asked for her for my 16th birthday that year because she was brand new. I never bonded as well with her as my other AGs, but she is still sweet.

3 birthdays later came Kit. I fell in love with her time era, and the fact that she was the first AG with short hair and freckles. (I love having an October birthday and an accomodating mother...)

Nellie came for my 23rd birthday. I had to have her- I have Samantha!

And last but not least, Elizabeth arrived this passed October to compliment Felicity.

Oh, I almost forgot- Sammie, my late 80s secondhand Samantha, a generous gift from someone I met online. She has a damaged eye, but if I had her head redone, she'd be identical to my original Samantha who had her head replaced a few years ago.

I never did get Molly. Maybe one day, but with my sister and a good friend already owning her, I'd almost feel as if I'm infringing on someone else's territory.
